For the third year in a row, Skills for Jobs S4J, supported the line Ministry in organizing the Skills Fair 2018, an event dedicated to development in vocational education and training.
The main theme for the 2018 activity was Innovation. The event’s objective was to attract young people’s attention to the practical and innovative aspect of professional education and have an impact on improving the image for VET.
The 3 -day event brought together various public and non-public VET providers to introduce the full range of education and vocational training offerings in Albania: from public and non-public vocational schools and vocational training centers to companies that provide vocational training and long-term professional practice.
Participants from all schools, vocational institutions and partner businesses presented in parallel activities their most innovative projects in skills development area. VET experts and school staff engaged in thematic discussions on topics such as ‘Providing Quality Apprenticeships’, ‘Development Unit functions’, ‘Outreach and Institutional Marketing’. Representatives from the private sector businesses engaged in networking activities, which resulted in new collaborations between them and the schools.
The Albanian Alliance for Apprenticeships was an important participant in the fair and engaged to inform participants and visitors on its mission. As a result, 12 new companies joined the Alliance and pledged to provide apprenticeships for students in S4J supported schools in the 2018-2019 academic year, resulting in an increased number of long-term professional practices offered in Albania.
Two prizes were awarded during the fair, one of which was for the Tourism and Hospitality school in Tirana. The other prize was awarded to “Kolin Gjoka” school in Lezha, for the consolidated partnership with the private sector and the highest number of students engaged in apprenticeships throughout Albania.
