The collaboration between schools will not focus only on the exchange for teachers and best practices, but on student’s mobility as well.
The Memorandums of Understanding between schools were signed on 18th of April, in the presence of Deputy minister, Ms. Dajna Sorensen and Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Phillipp Keller.
Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Phillipp Keller highlighted the importance of vocational education in the development of an economy: “In Switzerland, we have adapted the dual-system, where actually students (apprentices) must sign a contract with companies to be accepted at school for learning. In-company training together with school training make a great combination, because it is close to the labour market needs. This makes it easier to get employed and to have the right skills to meet the employer’s needs. We are very convinced that this is a good approach.”
Mr. Matthias Dick, member of BBZ-CFP Biel/Bienne school board stated: “What we would like to have from this exchange is letting our (swiss) apprentices know how VET training is done in other countries; and to really let the albanian apprentices have their experience in the swiss VET system so they can join the company for a while and see how VET training in the practical part is done in Switzerland.”
According to mr. Dick, teachers at BBZ-CFP Biel/Bienne could really benefit from the albanian peers’ experience in Project-Based Learning activities, which is not yet a common practice in his school. On the other side, swiss schools’ expertise will help albanian schools to develop school-based curricula that is closer to the labour market needs.
