It takes two in dual learning: EAfA seminar in Tirana emphasizes the importance of a strong collaboration between schools and businesses.

In July 2013 the European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA), was launched by the European Social Partners, the European Commission and the Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU). EAfA is a unique platform bringing together governments with other key stakeholders, for instance business associations, individual companies, social partners, chambers, vocational education and training (VET) providers, regions, youth representatives or think tanks. The common goal is to strengthen the quality, supply, image and mobility of apprenticeships in Europe.

All five EU Candidate countries, including Albania have joined the Alliance. Swisscontact became a member of EAfA in May 2017 when it signed a pledge in Malta to promote apprenticeships in Albania.

On 24th of September, ‘Skills for Jobs’ (S4J) participated in the seminar organized in Tirana by EAfA, in close collaboration with European Training Foundation (ETF). The seminar aims to enable learning and networking among Candidate Countries and EAfA members. The thematic focus of the seminar was laid on the role of school – business liaison persons in work-based learning and on financing of work-based learning.

Inspired by EAfA, ‘Skills for Jobs’ (S4J) supported private sector companies to establish the Albanian Alliance for Apprenticeships (AAfA) in November 2017. Julian Demeti, manager of Albanian Business Partner (ABP) made a short presentation of the AAfA during the seminar.

Two Albanian companies joined EAfA. Albanian Business Partner, the company which supports the vocational schools in Lezha and Vlora with remote apprenticeships for ICT students, signed a pledge to the European Alliance for Apprenticeships during the event, together with ‘Restaurant Rapsodia’, another member of the VET schools’ network of partner businesses.
