‘Skills for Jobs’ S4J committed to score guiding criteria by European Union.
Quality Apprenticeships is becoming the topic of the day in most European countries. The European Council Recommendation of 15 March 2018 on a European Framework for Quality and Effective Apprenticeships (2018/C 153/01) has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
The Recommendation aims at increasing the employability and personal development of apprentices and contributing towards a highly skilled and qualified workforce responsive to labour market needs. Quality apprenticeships also help encourage active citizenship and social inclusion by integrating people of different social backgrounds into the labour market.
The framework sets out 14 criteria in relation to working and learning conditions as well as to framework conditions. It provides a common understanding among Member States and it will support their efforts to reform and modernize apprenticeship systems that provide an excellent learning and career pathway.
‘Skills for Jobs’ S4J is leading a national campaign to promote quality and effective apprenticeships Albania. In November 2017 the project supported the establishment of the Albanian Alliance for Apprenticeships and supported the organization of 4 Apprenticeship Fairs. The project works closely with the Ministry of Finance and Economy, nearly 300 private sector companies, 6 VSD providers in Albania and our Swiss partners to offer apprenticeships to young people in Albania. The project is currently engaged in designing a training programme for in-company mentors who provide practical training to about 800 apprentices in Shkodra, Lezha, Berat and Vlora. Another 730 youngsters are estimated to start their apprenticeships in November 2018. We’re looking forward!
