‘Skills for Jobs’ (S4J) has made it its mission to ensure the highest level of quality in delivering apprenticeships. This requires that companies that provide practical training for students are capacitated to offer quality apprenticeships.
For this, the project started collaborating with the Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (SFIVET) to design and deliver a ‘Training of Trainers’ program for in company mentors. In March 2018, a delegation from SFIVET participated in an exploratory mission to discuss with schools and company representatives in views of preparing the ‘Training of Trainers’ programme.
The first phase of the ToT programme will be delivered from 16th to 18th of October, followed by the second phase from 13th to 15th of November.
As a pedagogical background is important in ensuring quality and sustainability in new training programmes, the ToT will be offered to Development Unit teachers, VTC instructors, university teachers and local institutions and training providers. S4J is collaborating with NAVETQ to licence these institutions in order that they can offer this type of training in the future.
In early January 2019 (from 7th to 9th), the future trainers will provide the first Training of in-company Mentors, under SFVIET guidance.
