
Dual VET in Albania: Key Figures and Benefits

As of this academic year, a total of 9 dual programs are being offered by 10 vocational schools in collaboration with over 100 companies across 6 regions of Albania. The following vocational schools are participating in this initiative:
- Vocational “Gjergj Canco” School in Tirana
- Tirana Hospitality-Tourism School
- Kamëz Multifunctional Center
- Vocational “Beqir Çela” School in Durrës
- Vocational “Hysen Çela” School in Durrës
- Elbasan Vocational School
- Vocational “Hamdi Bushati” School in Shkodër
- Vocational “Kolin Gjoka” School in Lezhë
- “Pavarësia” Industrial School in Vlora
- Commercial School in Vlora
Nearly 300 apprentices are now signed up for employment contracts, committing to three days per week with reputable companies in key sectors such as Hospitality-Tourism, ICT, Transport Vehicle Services, and Electrotechnics.
This initiative includes 12th-grade students and individuals seeking to pursue the post-secondary program “Management of Accommodation Structures” at the Commercial School in Vlora or the Vocational “Hamdi Bushati” School in Shkodër. This program is designed for secondary education graduates and adults aiming to establish themselves as managers in the hospitality sector.
Apprentices enrolled in vocational education programs at level V of the Albanian Framework of Qualifications, who participate in dual-form training and sign an employment contract, are entitled to a minimum monthly wage of at least 30% of the national minimum wage, as stipulated by the draft legislation currently under review. During their working period, dual VET training companies are required to pay a mandatory contribution of 0.3% of the national minimum gross salary towards accident at work and occupational disease insurance.
