‘Gjergj Canco’ vocational school joined ‘Skills for Jobs S4J in late October 2017. During the last year the Development Unit (DU) was established and teachers were trained to perform the different functions of the DU.

By the end of the 2017-2018 academic year, teachers performing business relations functions in the school’s DU, together with project staff started identifying and meeting with potential businesses that could provide apprenticeships for students in ICT, Electric and Electrotechnics directions.

Due to the requirements from private sector companies, a tailored approach was designed for implementing the apprenticeships process, which at first will be offered to students in the 12^th and 13^th grade (unlike other schools supported by the project that start providing apprenticeships for students in the 10^th grade).

Until July, four companies (Tirana Teknologji, Abiesse, ELAL COM and GeoEng) had signed an MoU with the school. Four new companies (Forschner Albania, Hako, EHW and Birra Stela) signed an MoU with the school in September, bringing the number of companies in the network to 8.

During the Apprenticeships Week in November 2018, students from 12^th and 13^th grades will be matched with these businesses for their apprenticeships. The school is constantly reaching out to new business partners that can provide apprenticeships for students.
