Management staff from s4j partner schools participate in summer school on educational leadership

School principals are responsible for shaping a vision of academic success for all students, creating a climate hospitable to education, cultivating leadership in others, improving instruction, managing people, data and processes. This is a crucial role in the well-being of the organization.

For this reason, ‘Skills for Jobs’ S4J is committed to provide the necessary support and capacity building in this direction for school management staff. From 25 to 27 July, directors of S4J partner VET schools and representatives from S4J team participated in the ‘Educational Leadership’ summer school in the lake-side city of Pogradec.

The summer school was designed for school principals and principals’ assistants, who are interested in improving their school accountability and the effectiveness of the school leadership over capacity building and building better school climate. Its aim was to encourage a new generation of school leaders to discuss different topics from an interdisciplinary perspective, exploring the connection among multiple approaches, research methods and the relationship between academic and non-academic debate.

The programme was tailored for directors of 9th grade schools, high schools and other VET schools from Albania and Kosovo. Angelo Paletta (Professor of Management Control Systems, University of Bologna) and Christopher Bezzina (Deputy Dean and Professor of educational leadership at the University of Malta) were the main lecturers. It was organized for the 3rd year in a row by youth organization New Vision, the Metropolitan University and the University of Tirana with the support of Swisscontact, LuxDev, University of Bologna and University of Malta.
