Empowering the Development Unit for Higher Quality in VET

Since its first phase, ‘Skills for Jobs’ supported the creation and establishment of Development Units in partner VET providers. Now the goal is to consolidate these internal structures and capacitate them to better plan and contribute to the quality and continuous VET improvement. For this purpose, S4J has been supporting partner providers to develop action plans for DU activities.

During October and November, ‘Skills for Jobs’ partner VET providers organized Development Units workshops with DU coordinators and institutions’ deputy directors. These workshops aimed stressing the DU’s role in the VET institution’s success, enhancing unity and collaboration within the structure, and proposing activities for AY 2020-2021. DU coordinators of each VET provider discussed each function’s status and jointly proposed working plans with activities, performance indicators, responsibilities, monitoring and resources. S4J facilitated these workshops and provided supporting materials, such as DU manuals.

Development Unit plans, finalized by the end of November, are aligned with VET providers’ medium and annual plans and it helps achieve its objectives, mission and vision.
