Starting an Academic Year in the New Reality
As schools start on September 14, numerous questions and uncertainties prevail. Will safety measures be respected? Should we expect another social distancing period and are schools ready for that? What is the most effective teaching/learning modality in the new reality?
‘Skills for Jobs’ presents some ideas and suggestions on measures to be taken from schools during this academic year and years to come. Considering current and future security measures in educational institutions, it is suggested that blended learning should be the way to go. Schools must organize curricula by blending different methods outside class, where online learning prevails. Concerning students in apprenticeships, coordination and flexibility is needed between schools and partner companies. Schools should engage in dialogue with companies on skills needed by the labour market, as these needs will constantly change.
