Vocational Education and Industry Associations: Towards a Success Story

In collaboration with ‘Skills for Jobs’, the Women’s Chamber of Commerce has launched a series of storytelling sessions to share their professional and personal experiences with partner schools’ students and inform them about apprenticeships and employment opportunities in different industries in Albania.

During May, 5 storytelling sessions were held from five ladies, members of the Chamber, respectively: Mrs. Albana Muçaj (Editor-in-Chief of Business Magazine in a conversation on Digital Marketing at vocational ‘Gjergj Canco’ school), Mrs. Antonela Hako (Founder of ‘Hako’ company in a conversation with ‘Economics-Business’ direction students of the Technical Economic School in Tirana), Alma Spathara (Representative of Hotel Castle Park and co-founder of Albania Rafting Group in a conversation with ‘Hospitality-Tourism’ direction students at vocational ‘Kristo Isak’ school), Valbona Begolli (representative of ‘Alb Group’ company in a conversation with ‘Economics-Business’ direction students of vocational ‘Salih Çeka’ school), Klodiana Ajazi (representative of ‘Inovess’ company in a conversation with ‘Construction’ direction students at vcational ‘Ali Myftiu’ school). These sessions will be followed by a long cycle which will extend throughout the first half of the 2021-2022 academic year.

Meanwhile, dialogue rounds between S4J and industry associations are ongoing. In June, a meeting was held with two representatives from the manufacturing industry, respectively ‘Kraco’ and ‘Megatek’ companies, members of the Union of Albanian Producers. The discussion was focused on cooperation possibilities between companies and vocational education, mainly for long-term apprenticeships and employment for VE students from S4J partner schools. This was the first of many meetings with other industry representatives in the coming months.
