Vocational Schools as Intermediaries for Youth Employment

Vocational Schools as Intermediaries for Youth Employment

During the last couple of years, S4J partner schools have turned into a recruitment source. Different companies and employment offices approach the school proactively seeking for employees. During 2020-2021 academic year, the approach was more structured also aiming a boost to balance the COVID-19 effects on graduates’ employment. Job boards were installed at each of the 9 partner schools and were regularly enriched with vacancy information. Job announcements were posted also on social media.

Development Units (DU) created processes and instruments to administer the requests and facilitate students’ applications for jobs. At vocational “Hamdi Bushati” school, an info point was created to provide more info on vacancies and register students interested to apply for a job. Career orientation, information and counselling provided to all students helped them to be prepared how to write a CV, letter of motivation, and behave in a job interview.

Every school included the “job board” initiative in their annual plan. To avoid overload and standardize the process, a protocol has been developed with clear roles, responsibilities, and instruments, including the monitoring and evaluation aiming results measurement and continuous improvement.
