Vocational Schools of Albania and Kosovo Join Forces for Development and Cooperation

Over 30 representatives from vocational schools in Albania and Kosovo gathered in Shkodër from 29 September to 1 October for a study visit aimed at sharing experiences, ideas, and successful practices in organizational development and cooperation with the private sector.

The activity, organized by two Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) projects implemented by Swisscontact, “Skills for Jobs” (S4J) and “Matching Skills to Jobs” (MSJ), marked an important step toward building bridges of collaboration between the two countries.

Kosovo Benefits from Albania’s Experience

Kosovo authorities are currently in the process of revising the VET law and are exploring the possibility of integrating the Development Unit model, a successful practice in Albania that could be replicated.

The first day focused on organizational development and the Development Unit model, encouraging reflection on ways to improve the vocational education system. The second day included visits to vocational “Hamdi Bushati” school and several partner businesses, where participants observed firsthand how cooperation between schools and the labor market functions through apprenticeship placements and dual programs.

This regional meeting is a clear example of how collaboration and the exchange of experiences can strengthen dual VET and create success stories that connect countries.
