National Dialogue for Strengthening Development Units and the Strategic Use of Data in VET

The National Agency for Employment and Skills (NAES), in cooperation with Skills for Jobs (S4J), has launched the Development Unit Talks – National Dialogue for Development Units, a series of eight meetings aimed at strengthening the role and functioning of Development Units in vocational schools across Albania.

The first sessions of this cycle were held in a hybrid format and focused on two key areas for the sustainable development of vocational education: the role of the Head of the Development Unit and the tracer study of graduates’ employment outcomes.

The first meeting highlighted the importance of the Development Unit Coordinator’s role, sharing concrete experiences, challenges, and good practices from vocational schools, while also creating a space for collaboration between institutional representatives and development partners.

The second session focused on graduate tracer studies as one of the most important decision-making tools in vocational education. Participants discussed how tracer data can be used to improve curricula, support career guidance, and strengthen links with the labour market, as well as the challenges related to data collection and analysis.

Through these dialogue sessions, the importance of strategic data use and continuous cooperation between schools, institutions, and development partners was emphasized, with the aim of building a more efficient, sustainable, and labour-market-oriented vocational education system.
