Dual VET: Supporting Quality Implementation in 14 Vocational Schools

Skills for Jobs (S4J) continued its support for the implementation of dual VET in 14 vocational schools across Albania during the January–June 2026 period. Dual qualifications are currently being delivered in Culinary Arts, Multimedia, Civil and Industrial Electrical Installations, Electrical Line Maintenance and Repair, and Auto Electrical Services and Repair.

Support focused on strengthening the capacities of teachers, Business Relations Coordinators, and school management staff to effectively implement apprenticeship contracts, organise workplace-based learning modules, and monitor student progress.

Special attention was given to students through support in documenting their professional learning experiences, individual meetings, and activities encouraging reflection on the skills acquired in the workplace. Meetings with parents were also organised at company premises to strengthen communication and their involvement in their children’s professional development.

S4J further strengthened cooperation with partner businesses by supporting company mentors and maintaining regular dialogue to continuously improve the dual VET model.

Building a Community of Practice for Dual VET

During this period, several activities brought together key stakeholders involved in dual VET, creating opportunities for dialogue, experience sharing, and joint identification of solutions to existing challenges.

One of the most significant events was held at the Kamza Multifunctional Centre, bringing together school leaders, teachers, students, parents, company mentors and managers, as well as representatives of business organisations and public institutions. Discussions focused on the impact of dual VET, its benefits for young people and businesses, and opportunities for further improving the model.

In addition, an online meeting with Business Relations Coordinators from participating schools focused on strengthening cooperation with partner companies and exchanging good practices for the effective implementation of dual qualifications.
