National VET Conference 2026: Towards a More Innovative, Labour Market–Oriented System

The National Conference on Vocational Education and Training (VET) 2026 brought together public institutions, development partners, businesses, and VET providers to discuss the future of skills, employment, and economic development in Albania.

The conference featured three thematic sessions addressing key areas of system transformation:

  • a new vision for the future of vocational education and preparing young people for the labour market
  • strategic investments, digitalisation, and the sustainable financing of the VET system
  • labour market challenges and perspectives, skills needs, and preparation for the green and digital transition

In the panel dedicated to innovation and future-oriented VET, Fation Dragoshi, Project Manager of “Skills for Jobs” (S4J), highlighted three key pillars driving the system’s transformation: school–business partnerships, dual VET, and digitalisation.

“These are not three separate processes, but three enabling conditions which, when working together, transform VET from a system that merely describes the economy into one that actively shapes it,” Dragoshi stated.
